Delhi Elections 2025: Exit Polls Predict a Major Political Shake-up
Another intense election struggle just took place in Delhi's political hotbed, and if exit polls are to be believed, a significant change in power is imminent. As voting ended on February 5, 2025, preliminary predictions indicate that the BJP may finally end the AAP's ten-year hegemony in the city.
Prediction of Exit Polls:
Most exit polls forecast a strong win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with estimations ranging from 35 to 50 seats—a significant increase from their 2020 record of only eight seats. In contrast, Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won the previous two elections, is expected to win between 21 and 31 seats. The Congress, formerly the dominant force in Delhi, is predicted to win only 0 to 3 seats. If these numbers remain true on February 8, 2025, when official results are released, Delhi may have a new ruling party for the first time in ten years.
A Fight of Allegations and Promises
Both major parties ran intense campaigns, making big promises to the people of Delhi:
BJP’s Key Promises:
₹2,500 per month for women under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana
Atal Canteens offering ₹5 meals for slum dwellers
Free electricity (up to 200 units) and free bus rides for women
Pledges to fight corruption and implement Central schemes like Ayushman Bharat
AAP’s Major Promises:
₹2,100 per month for women under the Mahila Samman Yojana
₹18,000 financial support for temple priests and gurdwara granthis
Continued focus on education and healthcare improvements
Expansion of free electricity and water schemes
